Our new project, following the path of PİRİ REİS with TÜDAV MARU, is supported by the Turquoise Coast Environment Fund – Turkey! We will data on the current satatus of our seas, which are changing under increasing human pressure, by following the map of the great Turkish navigator and geographer Pîrî Reis in the Aegean Sea.
Our project will start from Çanakkale Gelibolu and conclude in Çeşme. Our expert researchers will conduct measurements and observations on biodiversity and pollution, while we will hold educational and awareness activities at the ports of Gelibolu, Bozcada, Gökçeada, Foça, Karaburun, Ildır, Alaçatı, and Çeşme, discussing with the public questions such as “Why are our seas important? What are the pressures on them? How should we protect them?”
The final destination of the Science Expedition, planned for August, will be in ÇEŞME, where we will organize the BLUE MEETING event. This will bring together scientists, the public, NGOs, local governments, decision-makers, and the media to share the current state and threats to our seas.
Let’s join hands to protect our seas and ensure their sustainability!
