Ross Sea Protected Area was declared in 2016.

Ross Sea has been declared a Protected Area.
The world's largest marine park has been declared in the Ross Sea, Antarctica, for 35 years! An agreement was finally reached after 5 years of negotiations. Fishing is banned in the 1.1 million square kilometer area (approximately the size of France and Spain).
