Our seas are still rich enough to require protection.

It's high time we protected what we have left. We must not repeat the mistakes of the past. We are conducting, and will continue to conduct, research to find answers to the questions of what we lost, why we lost it, and how we can protect it. Some of our coastlines harbor untouched beauties. Millions of living creatures gather on the shores to feed and perpetuate their species. Lagoons and river mouths provide abundant food for aquatic life. Even if we don't see it immediately, the sands we walk on teem with life. Fish migrations continue in the straits. Seals are rarely seen in the Mediterranean. And there are otters too. Dolphins greet us in all their splendor in the vast blue waters. When we look underwater, we can see an incredibly beautiful and vibrant life. Seagrass meadows are home to many groups of creatures. Anchovies are caught in the Black Sea, albeit in small quantities. In the Aegean and Mediterranean, there are the fascinating guardians of the rock crevices: groupers, moray eels, octopuses… But it all depends on our determination: either we decide to explore and protect the seas; or these riches will continue to diminish.
