Assessing the Vulnerability of the Black Sea Marine Ecosystem to Human Pressures (ANEMONE PLUS) focuses on understanding how human activities and climate change affect the Black Sea marine environment, while supporting the transition towards a more sustainable blue economy in the region.
Funded by the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme, the 30 month project is implemented by six partners from four countries, under the coordination of the National Institute for Marine Research and Development “Grigore Antipa”.
The project addresses major environmental challenges such as eutrophication, pollution, biodiversity loss and blue carbon. Building on the results of the ANEMONE and MISIS projects, ANEMONE PLUS further develops a regional WebGIS platform by integrating advanced monitoring and assessment methods, including remote sensing, eDNA analysis, underwater imaging, machine learning and environmental modelling.
By turning scientific data into practical and user-friendly decision-support tools, ANEMONE PLUS promotes cooperation between scientists, public authorities, businesses and citizens, contributing to stronger environmental governance and more sustainable marine management across the Black Sea region.
