Conservation and Sustainability of the Marine Environment in Turkish Seas
The second online Ocean Governance Course will be offered jointly by Turkish Marine Research Foundation (TUDAV) and International Ocean Institute (IOI) to upgrade the Ocean Literacy between 14th November – 23rd December 2022. The first course organized between April 4 and May 16, 2022 attracted a great deal of interest beyond our expectations and completed successfully with the participation of 40 applicants. In the selection of the participants; gender equality in advance of women, the inclusion of representatives of different business areas and institutions and also geographic distribution for covering the representation of four seas are taking into consideration. Applications for the second course will start to be received online on October 10, 2022.

1.Ocean Governance Course 4 April-16 May 2022
Conservation and Sustainability of the Marine Environment in Turkish Seas
We are launching our online Ocean Governance Course for the Conservation and Sustainability of the Marine Environment in Turkish Seas, which is offered jointly by Turkish Marine Research Foundation (TUDAV) and International Ocean Institute (IOI).
There was an intense interest for the applications in the course far beyond our expectations. We received a total of 383 valid applications. 40 applicants were confirmed for their participation to this first online course program taking into consideration of:
• the gender equality in advance of women;
• geographic distribution for covering the representation of four seas (Mediterranean, Aegean, Marmara and Black Seas) and also Van Lake where is the biggest lake of Turkey;
• including the representation of five different categories that has been mentioned above;
• and also the representation of different institutions.
As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the IOI and the 25th anniversary of TUDAV, we are planning to continue this cooperation for many years for the development of marine literacy. We are aiming to respond the request of all applicants to our future courses.
For this purpose, repetitions of our course will be organized for different focus groups throughout the year, and those interested will have the chance to apply again. We would like to thank all applicants who showed interest in our course and the experts who supported us as speakers during the course.
We wish a pleasant and productive course period.
